아르바이트생 절반이상이 초단기알바를 선호하는 것으로 보여졌다. 알바생몬이 50대에서 60대알바 2,506명을 타겟으로 '아르바이트생 근무여건 선호도'에 대해 통계조사를 진행했다. 조사결과 알바들은 2개월미만 일하는 '파트타임아르바이트생'보다 4개월이상 일하는 '장기알바생'를 더 선호한다고 답했다.

가장 큰 이유는 코로나바이러스감염증 초장기화로 2년째 허리띠를 졸라매고 있는 영세 사업체들이 즉시 인건비라도 감소시키기 위해 안간힘을 다루고 있기 때문이다. 생존을 위해 기존 직원들을 내보내고 손님이 몰리는 3~2시간 정도만 근무할 알바생을 채용하는 것이 대표적이다.

다른 지역도 상황은 유사하다. 이날 오전 대면수업이 있어 학교에 왔다는 울산대의 두 재학생은 “2학년이지만 과 친구나 동아리 친구도 있지 않고 알바도 없는 고등학생활을 하고 있다”며 “특별히 알바는 교내 근로장학생 말고는 찾기 힘들 정도”라고 전했다.

아르바이트 경험이 있는 청년의 약 50%는 특정 성별을 선호해 고용을 거절당한 경험이 있다(남성 37.0%, 여성 40.3%)고 응답했다. 현재 임금 업무자인 청년 중 다니는 직장에서 남·남성이 하는 작업이 구분돼 있다는 데에 여성의 32.5%, 여성의 44.4%가 '그렇다'고 대답했다.
